Recycler named one of state’s top small firms (The Modesto Bee)

Modesto Junk Co. Inc. has been named one of the top small businesses in California.

The scrap metal and household products recycling operation received the 2008 California Small Business Award on May 28 in Sacramento. Assemblyman Tom Berryhill, whose 25th District includes the company, gave the business the award.

Owned and operated by the Highiet family since its founding in 1920, Modesto Junk Co. processes more than 60 million pounds of metal and recyclable products anually on its two-acre site on Ninth Street in downtown Modesto.
